︎Info
School of Observation is a research laboratory dedicated to experiments in art and design, with a focus on materiality and handcraft. Founded in 2014 by designer Amanda Haas, the laboratory develops ideas, projects and objects through collaborative and constantly evolving processes.
In 2017, School of Observation expanded into the realm of independent publishing, specialising in publications on art, design and mindfulness. Under the co-direction of Haas and artist Giacomo Santiago Rogado, both branches of the School are guided by the inclination to re-examine their subject matter from a considered perspective: to observe, to reimagine, and above all, to keep learning.
The artist-designer couple, Haas and Rogado, are leading this multidisciplinary research and publishing practice. Creating books, one of a kind objects and ephemeral interventions in exhibitions and other spaces.

“All our processes and project developments are based on mindfulness and regenerative practices. We try to live and work as sustainable and with as low impact as possible. Our school has no teachers and the objects of observation are limitless. Our vision is to foster more care with the environment through various projects and by way of growing internally. Generating an observer’s mindset is key and therefor not all our projects are printed, digital or industrial goods, some things remain fleeting, like meditations and mere impulses.”
